TradesMill is a member of the Louisville Metro Police Neighborhood Watch Program. We have several issues lately of cars being broken into and teenages going through garages. If you see what you think to be a crime in progress or someone that does not belong and is acting suspicious notify the police immediately. Tell them you are a part of the Neighborhood Watch Program. Get the best specific descriptions of the people you see. Note such things as race, light or dark skinned, approximate age, type and color of clothing, hair color and style, approximate height, name if known and location of residence.

Keep garage doors closed even when you are working in your yard. Do not leave your garage door open unless yoy are visibly present to the outsiders and even then you may be taking a chance due to aggessiveness of kids these days.
Lock your car every time you leave it parked outside.
Remove GPS devices and any non-attached devices like MP3 players, video players, cell phones and radar devices. These are primary targets.
Keep your car keys (remote) handy at night. Most cars now have an alarm or panic feature. Test yours to see if it can be activated from inside your home. If you a victim of an intruder in your home or see someone prowling around you can attact attention by pressing the panic or alarm button. The alarm can awake neighbors and attact attention. This can also be true for you ladies when walking to your car in a parking lot at night.
Another tip for some of the older folks is to keep your keys and remote with you in case you fall or need help and cannot get to a phone and need to attract attention.
Our Neighborhood Watch Captain is Dianne Doyle. You may contact her at blockwatch@tradesmillhoa.org for more information.
